Star Trek: Picard the eighth series in the Star Trek franchise and is centered on the character Jean-Luc Picard, with Patrick Stewart reprising his role as a retired Star Fleet captain twenty years after the events of Star Trek Nemesis. Star Trek: Picard premiered on CBS All Access on January 23, 2020. Before a single episode aired, CBS All Access renewed Picard for a second season. Multiple actors from previous Star Trek series also reprised their roles, including Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, Marina Sirtis, and Jonathan Frakes – who also returned behind the camera to direct episodes as well.
